Best months to visit Dooars
Late October to March is the prime window. November-February gives you the best balance of cool weather, dry roads and high wildlife activity. December is our most-booked month — rhinos at Jaldapara are very active and elephants at Gorumara frequently visit Chapramari watchtower.
April-May still has good safaris (especially in Buxa) but expect heat by midday.
Monsoon (June-September) — what to expect
Forest cores close from mid-June to mid-September annually for the breeding season. You can still stay at Murti riverside resorts and enjoy the dramatic monsoon swell, but jeep and elephant safaris are not available.
If you want quiet, the rainy Dooars is gorgeous — but check that your trip's purpose isn't 'I want to see rhinos'.
